Our Chapter is proud to have been the leader in founding the NOCC's national Educational Program on ovarian cancer - titled "Ovarian Health - What Everyone Should Know". Our
founder, Dr. Renee Rossi, in conjunction with our medical advisory board chair, Dr. Mark Messing, and our medical advisory board,
developed a PowerPoint presentation on ovarian cancer and ovarian health. This presentation can be
used by speakers' bureaus of NOCC's state chapters across the country to educate and increase awareness of
ovarian cancer.
In October of 2003, the Gillette Corporation awarded the NOCC a grant to develop and
promote this initiative. Our Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter was chosen as one of three chapters to pilot the
program and the first training session for speakers was held in Dallas in January of 2004. Over 20
speakers were trained. Within the first three months after training, over 15 community presentations were made. In the intervening years
the program has expanded and is now being given regularly around the metroplex and the nation.
This PowerPoint presentation can be given to any interested group whether it be a small work place group or
a large professional gathering. It can be accommodated to meet your group's time needs - anywhere from 30 minutes
to 1 hour. Time for questions and answers are an integral part of the program.
The presentation itself provides:
- a history of the NOCC
- general information regarding women's cancer issues as they relate to ovarian cancer
- information on symptoms
- information on genetics of ovarian cancer
- survival statistics
- information on management of the disease
- current information on testing procedures
- information on how to be a patient advocate
- sharing of personal experience from ovarian cancer survivors
Be an advocate for women's health - educate your friends, family, and co-workers about ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer whispers....so it is up to each of us to spread the word! Please contact us at

We are very excited to have been the pilot chapter for this educational program and look forward to using this
program to further increase awareness and educate the public about ovarian cancer.
